Let’s Do the Card!

My four day break is officially ovah. Which is actually fine with me because I had a great couple days off! Friday was my 27th birthday and, as you know, Black Friday. I don’t usually go out to the stores because I prefer not to deal with those crowds and the traffic. So, instead I parked myself on the couch for a hour or two and perused the online deals.

I received some money from my dad for my birthday. I decided to use the money for a new winter coat. I can’t tell you how old my winter coat is because it’s been that long. I’m guessing maybe 5 years old (?). I checked out some different retailers and ended up purchasing this Columbia Women’s Kaleidaslope II Jacket from Amazon. It has really good reviews and looks cute/warm, so I’m hoping it fits!

CU_KaliedaslopeII_wm_main

Now that I’m getting older, I usually don’t have many gifts to open for my birthday, which I am completely fine with. I prefer money to purchase things that I really want! Hubby purchased some presents for me though, which was really thoughtful.

bdaygiftsHubby got me Runner’s High 2014 Day-to-Day calendar which I love! It has quotes every day that are inspiring or funny and related to running. What could be better? He also got my a new Camelbak water bottle. I’ve been using a metal one from Walmart that has seen better days. We have a slight obsession with New Girl, so it was fitting that he got me Season 2 on DVD. We’ve pretty much watched the entire second season in a day.

For my birthday dinner, we went to a restaurant I had’nt been to in a long time, the Stone Cellar Brew Pub in Appleton. It’s a great place for beer lovers, as they brew their own beer and have many varieties to choose from. For me though, I went with a glass of White Zinfandel.

2013-11-29 17.24.28This restaurant uses local ingredients, which I’m always a fan of. They also cater to the gluten free crowd. I decided on the Navarino Farm’s Elk Pastrami wrap with sweet potato fries. I typically do not eat much meat, but this wrap ended up being soooo good. The menu noted the pastrami came from Navarino Farms in Shicoton, WI. Yah for local ingredients!

2013-11-29 17.39.17Saturday morning I tried something I’ve been contemplating for a while- Group Power! It was intimidating at first because I don’t regularly lift weights. Typically, I do body weight exercises for strength training. I have previously done Body Pump, which is the same class just under a different name. Group Power is a part of Body Training Systems while Body Pump is part of Les Mills. I really enjoyed doing something different! The class was challenging, but I took it pretty light on the weights so I could work on my form. I’m definitely going to incorporate this class into my weekly workout routine. Watch out, gettin’ buff over here. 🙂

2013-11-30 08.32.14Saturday night, hubby took me to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I read the Hunger Games books last year, but it’s been a while. I was pleasantly surprised with how invested in the movie I felt. It met my expectations and stuck to the book pretty well. I’ll be interested in how they do the third movie, as the third book was  a lot different than the first two. I enjoyed the first two books much more than the third. There is no District 12. BOOM. I remember audibly yelling “WHAT??” when I read the end of book two.

We took our family photo for our holiday card. One of my favorite Friends episodes is “The Creepy Holiday Card” where Ross and Mona send out their own holiday card against Ross’ reservations. Hubby and I always make a joke of it every year and say “We’re not there yet.” 😉

DSCN1009-1Hope you guys enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend. Only three more weeks of work before our winter break! I’m guessing it will go by fast. Have a great week and check out other marvelous Mondays at Healthy Diva Eats.

Get any good Black Friday deals? Anyone try a new workout lately? Do you send out a holiday card?

Rollin’ With My Foamie

We’ve unknowingly settled into a nice little weekend routine around here. Friday nights are for watching Shark Tank (Did you see the cute Grace and Lace boot socks? Adorable!), Saturdays include a morning run, group core, cleaning the house, shopping, and renting a movie (this week it was “Man of Steel”), and Sundays finish off the weekend with group centergy, grocery shopping, and watching the Packers. We mix up our weekends, don’t get me wrong, but usually this is how it goes. And I kinda love it. It’s relaxing, yet I feel I get a good amount of things accomplished.

2013-11-22 10.21.32This weekend was very much like my typical weekend. I had been watching the forecast this week and was anticipating a potential indoor run. However, I sucked it up and bundled myself up to head outside for 2 miles on Friday.

After much debate and testing, I’ve decided to change my running shoe. My beloved Mizuno Wave Elixirs were working, but now with my IT band problems, I feel more support is needed. I’ve read many articles and websites that say otherwise- and I get that. But I really feel each individual person needs to do what’s best for them at that time. So maybe my Mizunos were working for me, but now things have changed and I feel less pain running in the Saucony Guide 7s. I’ve read that too much support isn’t good, but honestly, I just want to run. Whether that means more or less support, I don’t really care as long as it gets me on the road, errr treadmill (most likely for the next couple months).

2013-11-23 08.22.59I took the Saucony’s for a run around the block and then did a couple miles on the treadmill on Saturday. I still have IT band pain and knee pain, but I’m taking walk breaks and only doing what I can handle. I’m going slow, foam rolling, massaging, stretching and icing. Happy to report my knee has felt less sore after a couple miles! Can I go out and run 5 miles? No, not yet, but it’s a step in the right direction I feel. My hubby said he’d walk/run the Turkey Trot with me on Thanksgiving which makes me feel a lot better. Usually, we run at different paces, so we don’t run together. It will be nice to have him by my side for the trot. 🙂

It always makes things a little more entertaining to watch Shark Tank reruns on Hulu Plus while on the treadmill.

2013-11-23 08.22.29Rollin’ with my foamie.

foamrollingAfter my walk/run I went to group core Saturday morning. It’s only 30 minutes, but it’s pretty intense for those minutes. I love it.

2013-11-23 09.34.38Sunday morning I went to Centergy and am getting excited to do the training in January! I’m looking forward to sharing my love of the class with others. It’s truly an amazing class to take for runners who have tight muscles (Ahem, like me :)).

This week is a short one with Thanksgiving and the day after off. It also happens to be my birthday on Friday, so it should be a good week! Check out other marvelous Mondays at Healthy Diva Eats!

Getting Familiar with IT Band Syndrome

This past week I did my best to rest my body from running while still getting my work outs in. I did primarily group core and group centergy. I walked on the treadmill once for 2.5 miles. Other than that, I refrained from any type of running.

Thinking this would help with my IT band syndrome, I set out for 3 miles on Saturday morning. I mentally prepared for needing to walk and decided to alternate walking and running. I made it about a mile before I had to stop and walk due to knee pain. After a week of rest, the pain has unfortunately not gotten any better.

2013-11-16 08.18.50I’ve been doing research, as I know IT band syndrome is common with runners. Here’s what I’ve come up with for potential solutions.

1) Stop running – Although I’ve read some conflicting information. I’ve read to stop, as sharp pain is never a good type of pain. I’ve also read that resting the IT band will not heal it, that I need to actively recover to let the tendon heal by cross training, stretching, etc.

2) Foam roll– Thank you for the many suggestions last week to foam roll. I have the Trigger Point Performance the Grid foam roller and have been using it almost every day.

2013-11-16 09.05.51

3) New shoes– I bought my first “real” pair of running shoes last March and haven’t switched them since. I only have the one pair, so old shoes may be contributing to my injury. I stopped by my local running store and they suggested to get a new pair. My Mizuno Wave Elixirs have roughly 300 miles on them and are starting to wear on the bottom. The attendant suggested to stick with what has been working for me and not try a new shoe if I’ve been happy with the Elixir. Unfortunately, the Elixir has been discontinued so she showed me the replacement, Mizuno Wave Sayonara.

mizunosI ended up purchasing the Sayonara because it’s probably time for a new pair. However, it’s hard to judge the Sayonara because I can’t just go take them for run right now. My favorite part about the Elixir is the flexible toe box. I can wiggle my toes because it’s so stretchy. The Sayonara does not have that same quality and my feet felt a little tight in the toe box. Once I got them home and had more time to think about it, I decided I’m going to “wave sayonara” to the Sayonaras and order the same pair of Wave Elixir 8s online. I would love to support our local running shop, but I need to go with what works best for me and I did find my size online (the store was out of my size at both locations).

My luck just keeps rolling. I entered the Fit Approach Sweepstakes and Friday night I found out I won a pair of Pro Compression socks!! I already own a pair, so I know how awesome they are during and after long runs. They literally feel like someone is giving your legs a hug. I have the marathon sock in neon yellow. I bought a size S/M (7-11 shoe size), but feel that they could be tighter. This time I ordered a XS (4-7 shoe size) in the black argyle marathon sock. I’m so excited to get them! #keepittight

9301468_origI spent the rest of my weekend keeping up my #WeekendWorkoutWarrior routine with group core and group centergy classes.

2013-11-16 09.33.21I also spent some QT with this little guy, Murphy. He just melts my heart when he’s sleepy and curled up under our recliner. Dogs can live forever, right? Because I can’t imagine not having him around.

Something Unexpected

Let’s just get this out of the way- yep, that Packer game was quite ugly. My family and I are die hard Packer fans so it’s hard to watch such a mess at home. Crossing my fingers our players get better soon {namely, you, Mr. Rodgers} so we can get more W’s!

Saturday morning started with good intentions, with a 5 ish mile run in mind. I’ve set my goal for this month at 40 miles {part of the Pile on the Miles Challenge via Run Eat Repeat}. Unfortunately, as I got about 4 miles into my run, something very unexpected happened. I felt pain, SHARP pain, on the outside of my left knee. I have never felt pain like this before. Being the resilient runner that I am {albeit stupid after the fact}, I tried to run through it, but surrendered to walking after only a short distance. After some research and my prior knowledge on running injuries, I know it’s my left IT band that’s the problem.

nov9

What went wrong:

  • Didn’t take my own advice about Too Fast, Too Soon, Too Much, Too Often
  • Wanting to complete my monthly goal quickly and not having a set plan, I’ve run too many miles this month
  • I took up my training where I left off after my half marathon in September
  • I ran too fast out of the gate

My plan is to take a short break from running for 3-5 days, depending on how I feel. I’ve read that IT band syndrome is one of the few injuries that heals well with stretching. I’m planning on some QT with my foam roller, yoga, and core classes. I’m considering adding more weight training to my fitness routine, as I’m sure my lack of hip/glute strength is not helping the cause. I’m not deterred by this– I’m  determined to allow myself to rest and heal so I can get back at ‘er. I’ve had hip pain in the past, which I believe was also caused by my IT band. It’s just never felt like this before. Luckily, I’m not in the mist of training for anything major- just the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. Im going to give my body the rest it needs from running, while still continuing other forms of exercise.

I could worry and fret, but I know other runners have endured much worse. Im listening to my body instead {and my hubby who told me —>REST!}. So, no worries that I’m going to make it worse. I had this encouraging fortune this weekend, which I’ll take as a good sign. {by the way, the only sport I do is running :)}

2013-11-09 06.54.40Saturday night, hubby and I went to watch some hockey. I’m not super familiar with the sport, but I love that it’s fast action. We spectated the Green Bay Gamblers and it was a pretty exciting night. I got to “chuck a puck” and watch for flying sticks/pucks. I told my hubby if I suffered a TBI from a flying puck I was going to blame him.

2013-11-09 18.55.19

2013-11-09 18.38.17Before the hockey game, I had my first drink {besides wine} at a restaurant in a LONG time. I’m just not a big drinker, as normally I would rather have water with my meals. But I was feeling a “go for it” night, so a Hot Apple Cider {Goldschlager, Pucker Sour Apple schnapps, apple juice & a cinnamon stick; served warm} was my drink of choice. Just one, but it tasted really good!

hotciderI could tell I drank and ate differently than normal. I felt bloated and gassy most of the night. I wasn’t comfortable, but I’ll take it over stomach pain. Once in a while I can handle a stomach like this, knowing it will subside after a night of sleep. That’s the thing with IBS-C, I just have to wait it out and see how I feel. I knew alcohol and some of the food I ate wasn’t FODMAP friendly, so I was prepared to not feel the best.

Sunday morning, the sun was shining {finally} and hubby and I headed to the gym. Sunday morning Centergy is the best way to start my week. It felt especially good considering my IT band issues.

2013-11-10 07.55.54Hope you had a great weekend and took time to recharge for the week ahead!

Race Envy

Good Monday morning to you! I hope you had a terrific weekend! I’ve been getting race envy from seeing so many people on Twitter and Instagram racing these past couple weekends! I have the thirst for another half marathon, but I know I have to be patient as winter is not the best time to run a half marathon. Next spring though, for sure!

Even though I don’t have any major races coming up, I did sign hubby and myself up for the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning. I’ve never participated in one before so I’m really excited! It’s a 5 mile run which won’t be a problem since I’ve continued to run after the half marathon in September. In fact, I ran 5 miles on Saturday and it felt great!

NovrunWho was a #WeekendWorkoutWarrior with me this weekend?? I received my Road ID in the mail this week and remembered to wear it for my run. I know my hubby will feel better if I have ID on me.  I ran in the morning on Saturday and then headed to the gym for Group Core. It really kicked my butt on Saturday, more than usual, but in a good way!

2013-11-02 07.22.56I got back into eating a banana with peanut butter before my run. Since September, I definitely have relaxed on running higher mileage. However, since I joined Run Eat Repeat’s Pile on the Miles, I find myself thinking about running more often again. Plus, a half marathon in May isn’t that far away, right?

Something else that will help keep this Energizer bunny going? A TREADMILL! After a botched Craigslist deal, we decided to bite the bullet and buy new. We were all set to purchase one from Sears, when I thought about checking out Dick’s Sporting Goods. They ended up having a better deal with lots of extras! We purchased the Epic A30T treadmill and I know I’m going to love it. It comes with a year of iFit, but I have yet to set that part up. My plan is to get a couple miles in before work most days, especially if I’m not planning a workout later in the day, and do a longer run on Saturday or Sunday. I definitely have been getting the “sitting blues” lately. On Friday, I couldn’t shake this sadness and couldn’t pinpoint why I was feeling that way. I believe it was because I sat and did paperwork most of the day without any exercise. It kinda drives me nuts. So, another reason I am ecstatic we have a treadmill of our very own now.

EpictreadmillSunday morning I ran a little over 2 miles on the treadmill and then headed to the gym for Group Centergy. I am conquering that bird pose, slowly but surely!

2013-11-03 07.07.43We put the treadmill in our unfinished basement. It’s near a window, so it doesn’t feel too closed in. However, as you’ll notice, the walls are bare cement. I am going to add inspirational quotes to the walls with chalk to keep me motivated!

I need your help! What inspirational quote(s) should I add?

My favorite is “Every mile earned, never given.”

Weekend Workout Warrior

This weekend included cool, but beautiful days here. My weekends lately have been similar, including workouts, shopping, and relaxing. I’ll take more of that please!

Oct26Saturday I dragged hubby to the gym with me. I ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill before we took Group Core. The wind was pretty wicked here on Saturday, so I opted for an indoor run. I’ve been thinking more about getting a treadmill at home lately. We definitely have the room for one and I’d love the option to get a run in before work or later at night when I’m less likely to run outside or want to drive to the gym.

Saturday afternoon hubby and I headed our for some shopping. We perused the treadmills at Sears. The salesman were very knowledgeable about treadmills and we ended up trying some out, but not making a purchase. After, we grabbed some lunch at one of our favorite places, Panera.

panera1026I am in love with their Thai Chicken salad. Holy yum. The smokehouse turkey panini was quite good too.

2013-10-27 14.08.39My new BOBS shoes came in the mail on Saturday. They’re sparkly and tree like. I love them.

2013-10-27 14.10.06

And they’re Murphy approved.

2013-10-27 07.58.28I’m still obsessed with Sunday morning Centery. I’m making some good progress with bird pose! Not quite as shaky as I used to be.

roadid

Sunday nights are always better chatting with fellow runners on #runchat! A week from last Sunday, I won a pre-runchat gift certificate for Road ID by tweeting. Originally it said I won the Supernova light, however, the email I received indicated I could use the $15 for anything on their site. I decided to purchase a Road ID Wrist ID Sport instead of the light because I thought I would use it more often. I don’t usually carry any kind of ID on me when I run (probably not the smartest…). Reading more about the ID got me thinking about what could happen during a run. I’m usually alone with my phone and that’s about it. If I were to get hurt, there’s really no way for someone to identify who I am. I know my hubby will feel better once I start wearing one. You just never know.

I’ve now won a Designer Whey t-shirt and $15 for Road ID website. Not too shabby for being a newish tweeter. It pays to participate!

Cool Runnings

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and took some “me” time. I know I did!

The weather here in WI has gotten noticeably cooler in the last week. Temps have hovered around 40-50 degrees with upper 30s in the mornings.

2013-10-19 10.13.22

Let me in Mom, it’s cold out here!

It’s been cool runnings around here…and I’m not talking about the movie circa ’93, but fall running!

2013-10-19 09.11.03I’m so glad I’ve invested in some quality cooler weather running gear because it makes my runs much more enjoyable. My favorite new piece of running gear is my Nike Epic Run Tight. They are amazingly comfortable and warmer than my New Balance running tights. I know they’ll keep me warm this winter too. I’m also loving my new Asics headwarmer (similar one here). Headbands are great for letting heat escape through the top of your head, while still keeping your ears warm.

Saturday morning I set out for a 6 mile run. It was a beautiful, crisp fall morning. I haven’t run more than 3 miles since the Brewers 10k at the end of September, so I was really looking forward to it. The fall colors here are mostly passed their peak, but the scenery is still beautiful. I can’t complain at least. 🙂

Oct19After my run we went to our local farmer’s market. I’m really sad that was the last one of the year. We ended up getting a lot of produce for cheap and I’m happy to support local vendors. I bought spaghetti squash (planning on making Skinnytaste’s  Baked Spaghetti Squash and Cheese), green/red peppers, zucchini, and honey crisp apples (for the husband, as I have discovered apples don’t agree with my stomach).

2013-10-19 11.04.03Sunday morning I headed to Centergy (yoga+pilates class I rave about). My gym released the new routine last weekend so I’ve only done it two times so far. It’s very different than the last one and a really good challenge; especially on the “challenge” track where we’re in a squat the entire time- my legs were burning by the end! And I finally got into bird pose!

243_817_376I’m looking forward to the week ahead! I’m hoping to get out for more runs! I signed hubby and myself up for a free clinic on Wednesday to learn about transitioning to winter running and keeping ourselves injury free. Make it a great week!

How was your run this weekend? Anyone else go to a farmer’s market? What’d you get?

I’m a Centergy Groupie

Happy Monday morning everyone! Congrats to everyone who raced this past weekend! This weekend provided some much needed “me” time. I relaxed, exercised, and spent some QT with my family.

costumes

Hubby has decided to be “Billy Bass” the hanging wall fish for Halloween this year. (super popular 10 (?) years ago) I decided this year to make it easy and be a cow. I purchased a headband and tail to wear from Amazon. I will be wearing this Nike Dri Fit shirt that I think resembles a cow. The less I have to buy, the better!

unosFriday night, hubby and I went to one of our most frequented restaurants, Uno Chicago Grill. Normally, Uno is known for having some of the worst food for you, including the deep dish pizzas. However, I have found some better for you options including the Field Greens with Goat Cheese & Glazed Walnuts salad and the Mediterranean half pizza on five grain crust. We also were some wild and crazy kids- I ordered a water and hubby ordered a root beer. The 21 year old me would be screaming right now.

BTSSaturday morning we had the opportunity to try the new releases for Body Training Systems Group Core and Group Centergy. I actually got hubby to try Centergy (yoga+pilates) with me!!! He did great, although some of the routines go really fast if you’ve never done it. I’m loving the new release as it’s totally different from the last one.

centrelease

I had the chance to do Centergy TWO times this weekend (Sat & Sun). I’m a lucky girl. My glutes are feeling a little sore and I love it.

wineMy drinking lately has almost exclusively been wine. We used to enjoy some drinks (vodka+soda) at home on the weekends, however, since I’m focused on running and exercising, I don’t want to drink because a) I don’t want to be hungover and not able to work out b) I don’t eat as well when drinking and c) I don’t need those empty calories in my body. This is such a huge change from a couple years ago, but I’m happy with it. I honestly can’t tell you the last time I was drunk because it’s been that long. Orchard Country Winery Autumn Harvest is one of my favorite full flavor wines. If you can find it- buy it!

After a crazy week at work with late night parent/teacher conferences, I’m looking forward to a more typical week ahead. This week we have a couple things to celebrate- our 2nd wedding anniversary is Tuesday and hubby’s birthday is Wednesday! I’m looking forward to a great week & I hope you are too!!

A Goal Without a Timeline is Simply a Dream

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend! This week is parent/teacher conferences so I am gearing up for some late nights at school ahead of me. Luckily, I was able to get some much needed rest and relaxation in this weekend!

Friday night hubby and I watched one of our favorites shows- Shark Tank! I love to see what people invent! I’m still trying to come up with some brilliant, innovative idea to get us on the show. I’ll let you know when that happens. 🙂  As we were watching the show, Robert Herjavec said this great quote.

Obviously, the runner in me was screaming, “YES!” because this completely applies to training for any kind of race. I will file this under my motivational running quotes.

Saturday was rainy and dreary here. I started my morning with BTS Group Core, which is a 30 minute class. It’s quick and dirty. Even though I’ve been attending regularly twice a week, it still makes me sore some days! I am definitely feeling it in my glutes today.

2013-10-05 09.30.32Saturday afternoon I hit the mall to do some shopping for my husband’s birthday and our anniversary (both next week, ekk!). I used to go the mall all the time as a teenager, but honestly, I couldn’t stand it. It wasn’t even the holiday season and the mall was packed. People walk way to slow for my liking. I didn’t exactly know what I was looking for too, which made it worse. I ended up heading to two stores and then high tailing it out of there. No thank you. I will stick to my smaller stores rather than the mall from now on.

One of the stores I stopped at was Target. I contemplated getting this Gaiam pressure point massager. Ever since I tried “the stick” at the Fox Cities Marathon expo, I’ve been thinking about picking on of these up. However, I already have a Trigger Point foam roller, so I’m not sure if it’s necessary. I don’t want to be collecting a bunch of exercise equipment that I think is a good idea at the time and then never use it. Although, I think I would use it, so we’ll see. My birthday is coming up….

2013-10-05 14.28.44Murphy has all but destroyed every soft, plush dog toy we’ve gotten him. I know he loves soft toys, so I decided to give it another go and picked him up a soft duck. It had less stuffing than a normal toy, but of course, it didn’t make a difference.

2013-10-05 16.38.33I’ve should have read that smiling face to mean, “I’m about to destroy this toy waa haaa haaa,” because that’s exactly what happened. All that’s left now is the “skin.” Live and learn, right.

I also picked up some fall candy, mostly to bake with. I made oatmeal cookies with the pumpkin spice M&Ms and am planning on using the pumpkin spice kisses in Janae’s Rolo cookie recipe (replacing Rolos with the kisses). The Werther’s caramel apple filled candy I’m planning on just eating. 🙂

2013-10-05 15.45.26Sunday morning I headed to Centergy class for some much needed yoga. I am in love with this class. The instructor is always challenging us to not be comfortable in poses and I really feel a difference in my strength. We do a lot of body weight strength training in the class. I’m finally able to do a standing split, flying warrior, and corpse pose (oh wait, you just lay there for that one ;)).

2013-10-06 07.58.10I had another great run to finish my Sunday off that I will recap tomorrow.

I hope everyone takes some time to invest in their physical and mental health this week. It’s so important! I give you permission to feel good about yourself!

What is your favorite inspirational quote? Anyone have “the stick” or something like it? Is it worth it?

What are you doing this week to invest in yourself?

Weekend Roundup

Guess who’s back, back again, Monday’s back, tell a friend…sorry, had to! 🙂 Time for a whole new week of opportunities to be the best me (and you)!

My hubby and I had a great weekend participating in the Brewers 10k run in Milwaukee. Look for the recap tomorrow, but let’s just tease it by saying we got to run on the field of Miller Park for the last .5 mile. #awesomesauce

After I uploaded my race information on Garmin Connect this weekend, I noticed that I have run 176 miles since July 18th. I’ve really surprised myself this year. So proud!

brewerscollageI’m sure you saw “National Coffee Day” floating around the twitter world on Sunday.  Before I joined twitter, I likely would’ve never heard of this “day.” I happened to stop at Dunkin Donuts on our way to Milwaukee Friday and saw the display for K-Cups. I drink K-Cups regularly, usually one a day, so when I saw $7.99 for a pack of K-Cups on sale for “National Coffee Day” I grabbed some. The manager mentioned they don’t offer this kind of deal even for Black Friday. Score! I have yet to try their pumpkin spice K-Cup, but I bet it’s just as good (if not better) than Green Mountain’s version.

2013-09-27 16.32.35

Like most bloggers, I’m a fall/pumpkin girl all the way. On our way back from Milwaukee on Saturday we stopped at the Outlet Mall in Oshkosh. One of my favorite stores there is Le Gourmet Chef because hello, they have so many samples to try! I found a little niche of “all things pumpkin” including this Spiced Maple Pumpkin Dip. The clerk recommended spreading the dip on english muffins or mixing it in greek yogurt with granola. We picked up cinnamon honey pretzels to dip with it and let me tell you, amazing.

One of my first blog posts was a DIY race medal holder (pictured below, right). Confession: I just hung it up yesterday. I picked up a Half Marathon poster last weekend at the Fox Cities Marathon expo (made by BlueSkyRun) and they naturally make perfect wall partners. So, where did I decide to hang them? Right in my dining room, of course! Our house has an open concept so I can also see them from our living room and kitchen. They’re such great reminders of our accomplishments. Love them 🙂

How did your run go this weekend? Anyone else race? What’s your favorite kind of K-Cup?
